Henry - Deceased - RIP
About Henry
Henry’s a very friendly boy and is waiting to greet the volunteers with a meow and a chirrup every morning.
Henry was an incredibly friendly cat with a magnificent coat. Possibly the longest of any cat we have had. This was hard to manage as an outdoor cat so we would brush him. About once a year he’d need to go to the vet to be sedated and shaved and he would protest loudly in the car.
A true outdoor boy. We knew the street was a dangerous place for him as it is for all the strays in our care but he was insistent that this was the life he wanted. We brought him to Syros Cats but he didn’t fancy it and ambled back to his spot preferring the solitude and independence, we guessed.
Each morning he would greet us with strong head bumps before he would look at the food. People first.
For a while he was an only cat so we called his spot “Henry’s Wall”. For us, it will always be. But as he got older he shared the wall with a select few. Ginger Sultana and ginormous black and white Noel.
Sadly Henry was diagnosed with terminal kidney failure in January 2025, an illness he had hid well behind his friendly and outgoing manner. We gave him a few more days of freedom, but it soon became apparent that time was fast catching up with him and we feared he wouldn’t last much longer. We had to take the toughest decision of all and let me go peacefully.
Sleep well little lion, the wall will always be yours…
