About Dennis

Dennis was found at our Mermaid feeding station in November 2024. He was very young and wandering in the road. We trapped him and cared for him until he was old enough to be vaccinated. He now hangs out with his mirror image Chickpea!

Dennis was super friendly from day one, a real purring machine and a cat that craves human contact. He’s an absolute joy to care for and we’re sure he’ll find a forever home very easily once he’s a little older. In the meantime we get to enjoy his purrs all to ourselves!

We are sad to announce that sweetheart Dennis passed away from FIP.
We found Dennis 3 months ago. A lucky kitten, or so we thought. Late kittens can die from lack of food and the cold, their mother’s exhausted, as it is their third litter of the year often die too. But Dennis was at the right place, a feeding station in our village Kini so our volunteers scooped him up and brought him to our quarantine.
What a joy he was! An absolute beauty with big cartoon eyes. He was an adorable, friendly little guy from the start and loved human company. Playful and an expert biscuit maker. He had the regular health checks and vaccines and seemed like a normal kitty. Until he got sick and his eyes looked funny. We were shocked when the vet told us he had gone blind. He got urgent care while we waited for blood results. The FIP sample needed to be sent to the mainland. FIV/Felv negative, toxoplasmosis negative (a possible cause of blindness), but we awaited anxiously for the FIP test. He was sick and he wasn’t getting better. The positive result arrived and we had to let him go.
3 months at Syros Cats was too short, he brought joy to us all, we know he was happy with us.
RIP little one
