Medical Marvels: The Road to Recovery for Lumi

Lumi after surgeryWe believe that every cat deserves the chance to live a healthy life on their own terms. For many of the cats we care for, that means returning to a free-roaming life once they are well enough. Lumi is one such cat, and here is her story

Lumi was first brought into our care after being trapped as part of a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) programme in the village of Parakopi. During her initial examination, our team discovered a serious hernia that required urgent surgical repair alongside her sterilisation.

Thanks to the expertise of our veterinary surgeons and Lumi’s own resilience, the procedure was a complete success. However, the path to healing presented a unique challenge as recovery for a free-roaming cat involves “the cone of shame” and regular medication, not easy for a girl unaccustomed to human contact.

The stress of confinement weighed heavily on Lumi’s spirit. To support her emotional well-being while her body healed, our team implemented specialised stress-management techniques, including a custom-built “den” for privacy and Feliway-infused bedding to help her remain calm.

We are delighted to share that after two weeks of dedicated care, Lumi passed her final incision check and received her vaccinations with flying colours. She has since been safely released back to her feeder. While we certainly miss her presence, we know she is at her happiest living life as a healthy, free-roaming cat.
